The Bay’s Mike Smith Embarks on a New Chapter After 15 Impactful Years

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – June 3, 2025 – The Bay announces that Executive Growth + Innovation Director and Founder Mike Smith will step away from the organization effective Friday, June 13.

Mike has played a pivotal role in The Bay’s journey since day one, helping turn a dream into a nationally recognized youth development nonprofit. His fingerprints are all over our culture—his energy, creativity, and bold ideas have inspired young people across Nebraska and beyond.

Now, after nearly 15 years of meaningful impact, Mike is embracing a new chapter, one that begins with the arrival of a new baby this summer and makes space for creative exploration and future opportunities to serve youth on a broader scale.

The Bay will continue to thrive under the leadership of Executive Director Andrew Norman. Backed by a strong leadership team and board of directors, The Bay remains as focused and aligned as ever in delivering innovative, inclusive programs to young people in Lincoln and Omaha.

Mike’s contributions will continue to ripple through The Bay’s work, and we are deeply grateful for the passion, heart, and hustle he brought to this organization.
