GATHER. SKATE. GIVE.

AN UPDATE ON SKATE FOR CHANGE

Skate for Change is no longer operating as an active, centralized program of The Bay, and we are not currently coordinating City Leaders, local chapters, Skate for Change outings, or supply distribution.

This page exists to inform and to share a core principle of SFC that anyone can carry forward the mission of Skate for Change in their own community.

Skate for Change started with a simple idea: skaters could use what they already had — a board, a backpack, a few supplies, and a willingness to show up — to care for people in their own communities.

Over the years, that idea traveled farther than we ever could have imagined. Skaters organized in cities across the country, handed out socks and hygiene kits, built friendships, met people where they were, and proved that service does not have to be complicated to matter.

Skate for Change was born through the work that eventually became The Bay. Since then, The Bay has grown and changed. Today, our focus is on creating youth-centered spaces, programs, and opportunities in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska — places where young people can find belonging, build skills, create, skate, work, lead, and be surrounded by people who care.

But the heart of Skate for Change was never a website, a chapter structure, or a formal organization.

IT WAS ALWAYS THIS SIMPLE:

SEE A NEED.

GRAB WHAT YOU CAN.

SHOW UP FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS.

If you are still skating for change in your city, we see you

Keep going. Do it safely, respectfully, and locally. Build relationships. Listen first. Take care of people with dignity. Remember that this was never charity. It was always community.

Skate for Change is part of our history, and we’re proud of what it became. For now, this site exists as an archive, a thank-you, and an invitation to carry the spirit forward in your own way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Skate for Change still active?
Not as a centralized program. The Bay is not currently operating Skate for Change chapters, City Leader programs, supply distribution, or organized outings.
You do not need permission from us to care for your community. The original idea was always simple: show up, listen, and help where you can. That said, any activity you organize is independent and is not supervised, insured, sponsored, or managed by The Bay or Skate for Change.

No. We are not currently able to ship supplies or fulfill product requests.
