The Bay, a division of Rabble Mill, is looking for talented, driven, organized and creative interns interested in building their skills while helping us further our mission to create more skilled, supported and connected communities. Positions are available in the following categories: Magazine Editorial, Multimedia, Digital Art Collective Assistant and Social Media.

Editorial: Associate Editor, Rabble Magazine

Combine your passion for committing print and digital journalism with your enthusiasm for arts and culture all while helping other young aspiring journalists cultivate skills of their own. As associate editor of Rabble Magazine, you’ll wear multiple hats and shape the course of our youth-produced, youth-read magazine covering skateboarding, music, fashion, culinary arts and current events. Budget, write for, edit, design and distribute the mag as part of our motivated and creative young team team, all from our Collective digital art space. This is a paid position; junior and senior journalism majors with some editing experience preferred.

Duties include:

  • As editor, oversee all aspects of magazine production
  • Facilitate development of editorial budget and manage stories to print-ready production
  • Critique, comprehensively edit and copy edit stories
  • Oversee design, pitching in on layout and final edits
  • Upload stories to Rabble Magazine’s website and partner with social team to promote
  • Recruit new students to join magazine using established connections
  • Document and update production process using existing templates
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Suite required

Development & Administrative

Partnering with our Development and Office Managers, help us keep the wheels on the Rabble Mill machine turning while gaining insight into the business side of nonprofit work. Write grants and pitch new grant opportunities, brainstorm new ways to connect with donors, plan big fundraising events and navigate various day-to-day tasks. Strong candidates are detailed-oriented, strong writers and experienced researchers, with an affinity for organizational and administrative tasks. This is a paid position.

Duties include:

  • Researching and finding new grant opportunities, writing grants
  • Assisting in donor cultivation through donation acknowledgements, mailings and brainstorming new and unique contact strategies
  • Helping plan big fundraising events (Spring semester will help with Give to Lincoln Day and Omaha Gives Day)
  • Serve as the first point of contact for guests and visitors at The Bay Lincoln
  • Check the mail
  • Monitor and maintain all general phone communication
  • Dropping off packages/setting up pick up requests for shipping
  • Scheduling and Giving tours
  • Scanning Receipts/Invoices
