Art has always been something that The BAY has placed significant emphasis on. We believe that art is one of the most powerful means of allowing young people to better understand themselves, and better communicate themselves to others. However, in typical BAY fashion, we do art differently. Our art opportunities range from providing young people with spray paint cans, thousands of square-feet of wall and the freedom to paint; to our plans for a “wet room” where creative ideas can be brought to life, and the aftermath of the creative process can be washed down the drain!
The BAY Lincoln provides young people the much needed opportunity to create and explore. Organic learning happens best in an environment that encourages curiosity. Digital Art Space at The BAY is coming soon!
The BAY Lincoln is home to two of Lincoln’s finest mural pieces. Wes Sam-Bruce, of Greely Colorado, completed two mural installations in late October, 2015. The murals incorporate renderings of iconic Nebraska barns surrounded by geometric shapes, strong lines and repeating hands. The buildings are on stilts to represent The BAY’s success in elevating the community; while the hands represent the value of each individual and their contribution to community.
The BAY is home to a 3,000sq/ft concert venue and meeting space. The 16′ x 16′ stage is outfitted with one of Lincoln’s most impressive sound systems, and is ready for your favorite show. Please visit www.TheBAY.org/events for upcoming shows.
The BAY hosts Lincoln’s only all-ages concert venue. We are currently scheduling shows for all of 2017: For more information, please email us at email@example.com
The Concert Venue allows us to expand our mentoring opportunities to include music focused mentoring. We are currently designing this program by creating strong partnerships with local organizations who successfully support young people through mentoring and music education.
The Coffee Bar located inside The BAY is soon to be your favorite creative hub. Set in our restored warehouse, the Coffee Bar serves unique espresso and crafted coffee cocktails featuring Counter Culture coffee and espresso. Sip on coffee, get some work done and be inspired by the beautiful mural work of Wes Sam-Bruce.

It’s this simple; You SKATE – You GIVE.
Skate for Change is a worldwide volunteer movement that began at The BAY Lincoln. SFC creates an opportunity for young people to serve their community and give back by providing essential items to less fortunate peoples in their community.
Every member of the group simply skates with a backpack filled with water, clean socks, or non-perishable goods and gives it all away to the homeless. YOU DONT STOP SKATING TILL YOUR BAGS ARE EMPTY.
For up-to-date information about SFC outings, visit our Instagram page.
Distribution occur from Noon – 2PM on the second Saturday of each month and we need 12 volunteers for each one. To volunteer please shoot us an email at the email below.
We always need help cleaning during the week at 7 PMand especially on Mondays at 5PM. Come, grab a team, and help us sweep mop and clean. It goes a long ways towards helping us! This is a great opportunity to knock out GOPO hours as well.
Mentoring is a great way to have a big, lasting impact, on the young people who call The BAY home. To find out more information on mentoring at The BAY, please contact us at the email below.

The BAY distributes 112 All-Access Passes throughout the Lincoln Public Schools, through social workers and counselors. These passes allow free entry to the skatepark, concerts, digital art space, a mentor through Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters, and a meal from the Coffee Bar every night starting in 2018.
The BAY staff is trained to identify and actively seek out youth who may be experiencing homelessness, food scarcity and other poverty related issues.
Homeless Youth Prevention
The strength of our organization is in our recreation first approach to youth services. We focus, first, on creating a place where young people feel safe, and want to be; we then utilize that asset to be the point of first contact for struggling youth. The BAY is a place where young people can receive essential-needs kits, as well as connections to long-term resources, clothing, counseling, and housing.
The BAY Lincoln staff’s Lincoln’s only full-time outreach director focusing on sex trafficking intervention and prevention. This process involves supporting immediate needs, establishing stable housing, and employability.
Starting in late 2017, the Coffee Bar at The BAY will provide a six-month culinary job-training program for at-risk youth and victims of sex-trafficking and domestic violence.
The digital art space (set to be completed in 2018) will also be based around job-training components in video, photo, event editorial, web, and graphic design.
The Coffee Bar does not accept tips – Your money instead goes towards buying community cups! For just $1 you can: buy a token for a cup of coffee, leave it at the Coffee Bar, and provide hot coffee for someone who can’t afford it. Any extra donation go directly to our job-training and culinary programs at the Coffee Bar.
We partner with local mentoring groups to provide mentors for young people at The BAY. This partnership allows us to efficiently pair young people from The BAY with volunteer mentors from The BAY Lincoln community.
